- I am an Associate Professor at Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Born and raised in Lecheng Village, located in the splendid Hills of Tswapong in Eastern Botswana. Ke mokwena Morwa Obopile-a- Difhemo-a- Ntshobo. WHY INSECTA DOC? Insecta is the name given to the group (class) of arthropods that are six legged, with two pairs of legs on each side of the body. Their bodies are divided into three regions-head, thorax and abdomen. Arthropod refers to joint-legged animals that include myriapods (millipedes, centipedes and their relatives), chelicerates (spiders, scorpions, ticks horseshoe crabs), crustaceans (crabs, shrimps and relatives) and hexapods (six legged arthropods –insects and their relatives).

I took this picture of the grasshopper at Lecheng, my home village in Botswana. The grasshopper was in my yard but was not feeding on the plant, so my wife was happy to leave it hang around as long as it wanted. Insects on plants or moving around may be harmless,in fact they make the flower gardens look more beautiful!!
